Firm History

1971 –  GILBERT, POWERS & GRAVES: Don Mateer became associated with the firm of Gilbert, Powers & Graves as a trial attorney. This firm was a split off from a firm headed by Charles Thomas and Francis Hickey.

1972 – GILBERT & POWERS: Jack Graves left the firm for a practice in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

1975 – GILBERT, POWERS & MATEER: Don Mateer became a partner of the firm.

1977 – GILBERT, POWERS, MATEER & ERICKSON: Ed Powers retired and Bruce Erickson, a former law school classmate of Don Mateer, joined the firm as a partner.

1978 – MATEER & ERICKSON: Lou Gilbert left the firm and continued his general law practice.

1990 – MATEER & ASSOCIATES: Bruce Erickson retired. The firm continued an active and successful trial practice.

2011 – MATEER GOFF & HONZEL LLP:  William M. Goff, with the firm since 1985 and Donna R. Honzel, with the firm since 1995, became partners of the firm. Don Mateer retired from active practice but remains affiliated with the firm in an Of Counsel capacity.

2015 – MATEER GOFF & ASSOCIATES: In December 2015, partner Donna R. Honzel was appointed to serve as an Associate Judge with the 17th Judicial Circuit, ending her private practice of law. The firm continues its active and successful trial practice with clients developed over the previous 40 years as Mateer Goff & Associates.

2016 – MATEER GOFF & ASSOCIATES: In February 2016, Glen R. Weber became the newest associate of Mateer Goff & Associates.
